Uni life, uni days. The intro

Good morning dear reader!

Clock showing time

2:23am right now. Unusual early start for me, but that's cause I went to bed early.

Anyway waking up at this time and knowing it would be hard to go back to sleep, I thought 🤔 what better than starting to write about uni days. University; that's one of the many topics I'm interested in writing about. This is after all one of the main chapters in my life and one of the main reasons I'm coding for a living today.

First day:
This is how it all starts..
First day at uni; I can still remember it like it was yesterday.
This is the day where a bunch of young high school graduates meet for the first time. This is the day that so many of us have been hearing about for years! We've been hearing about it being bad, we've been hearing about it being good. Some people warned us and told us how scary and how hard it would be. Some others said "Nah! You'll just be fine!" and said they just loved it. Well what's for sure is that now was the time for us, and this time it was real. We were, sort of, for the first time walking on our own. No more school teacher to check on our homework every single day. If you work you pass and if you don't well then you fail. This is one of the first rules uni teaches you, and certainly one of the most important ones in life. After all, university is just one step that's supposed to prepare us for later and that's supposed to prepare us for the professional life. It just wouldn't make sense then, to go through it without learning such basic rules.

First people you meet:
That's the bunch of young high school graduates that I just mentioned earlier.
These are all people just like you. All very different, but just like you. Coming from all different backgrounds, bringing with them their own stories but still all very similar in a way. They're all very similar or "we're" all very similar cause we're all now on the same boat. We're all starting something completely new. We're all here to discover and to learn how to navigate ourselves through that new life. A life we're all expected to succeed at. Because if we don't, well then we all know and we've all heard about "how bad" our lives would end up being.

Anyway let's focus on those first people you first meet and about how important they are and will be. These people are so important as these are going to be your first line of defense throughout uni. These will be your main support system (I will be writing more about support systems and how crucial they are for a successful life). Missed a class? Wonder what the professor talked about? These are the people you'll go to first. They'll give you notes, they'll tell you what you missed, they'll reassure you. Wondering what class to take next semester? Or with which professor? These are also the people who will give you advice. In a nutshell these are the people you will be going through fire and hell with. These are the people you're going to celebrate with when you all pass that course or that exam.
What's even more important, is that out of those people are some of the life friends you will make! You might not know it yet, but some of those friends you make here are probably going to be your friends for many many years to come. They might eventually end up being your real life friends!

High school grads starting a new life
Excited to start a new life. Not knowing yet what's waiting for them!

On that note I believe I should end it here. Enough I think for one post; that way we would have covered first day at uni and first people you meet at uni.

That being said, I still plan to write more about university. So expect more posts about different topics related to uni. The ups, the downs. The good, the bad. The easy, the hard.
I will even be talking about some pre-uni topics such as: why I decided to study what I studied, what were my options, and what else would I have studied if I didn't do computer engineering.

Cheers!
If you're currently at uni or preparing for uni, then I hope you found that article useful. If not, then I hope at least it brought you back some nice memories :)

Till the next one!
Take it easy ✌
